What’s In My Diaper Bag For Two Toddlers (Minimal List!)

Hi Friends! Today I’m sharing what’s in my diaper bag! I now have two toddlers on my hands ages three and one. When my oldest was a baby I was definitely more interested in what bag looked the cutest. I’ve owned a JJ Cole and a Skip Hop Duo Diaper Bag which were super stylish but felt so big and burdensome to carry. I’ve since switched over to simple backpacks and they work just fine for us! This is my newest one from Amazon and cost just $15! I needed something just a little bit bigger to fit extra underwear and pants for Isaiah who is potty training. As a child care provider and mom I can tell you first hand that you don’t need much when your taking a trip out with your kids. I encourage you sweet friend to embrace minimalism in this area of your life. Trust me, your back will thank you! I find with my own kids and clients that bringing diapers (or underwear), wipes, sippy cups, snacks (2-3), a change of clothes and entertainment (toy, stuffed animal, tablet, a book) are the bare bone essentials you’ll need when heading out the door. Granted, pack for the occasion and definitely bring what you feel you’ll need to have a successful trip outside, but for an hour or two out- this list has covered many occasions for me effortlessly!

On the side I pack sanitizer, boogie wipes, band aids, lollipops or stickers. For my oldest son who is autistic, I also toss in a few sensory toys that he could use if needed. Other things I’ve found helpful with not only my children but children I watch professionally were bringing socks (so versatile! Put them on if your child gets cold, turn them into a sock puppet if they need entertainment or even use them to collect rocks if you’re waiting outside in a line or outdoor event) a light swaddle blanket (can be used for sleep, a carseat cover, a picnic blanket, a bib... possibilities are endless!) crayons and paper (kiddos love to color!) and bubbles! If we know we’re eating at a restaurant I bring the boys bibs and their cutlery. I also put in a few grocery store plastic bags to bag everything up at the end of our meal so I can put it back without getting my bag all dirty.
