Hi Friends! I’ve been looking forward to this post to hopefully give you all a few ideas on some of my families favorite non scary things to do during the fall season. During this time everyone celebrates differently and if you're like me and want to ditch the scary stuff below are a few of my favorite things to do with my young children during October!
Themes To Explore:
Bats: Read Stellaluna together (such a cute story about bats!), Make construction paper bat wings and fly around the house like a bat.
Bugs: Learn about different creepy crawlers and what they do! Sing itsy, bitsy spider together, make pipe cleaner spider rings linked here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXmXIIf4cl4
Pumpkins: Infuse pumpkin spice into your kiddos playdoh, paint/ decorate pumpkins, carve a pumpkin and explore the pumpkin seeds inside!
Apples: Go apple picking, make an apple stamp painting, create an apple pie sensory bin with oatmeal, apples, cinnamon and empty pie tins.
Skeletons/ The Human Body: Read books with diagrams of the human body, sing the "Them Bones" song linked here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ns91jtuPHZI, make a life sized body drawing labeling all of the bones in your kiddos body!
Leaves: Make leaf crowns, go on a leaf scavenger hunt, collect leaves and talk about which one is smallest or the biggest!
Candy/ Chocolate: Find a video on how candy or chocolate is made, explore how chocolate can melt with steam, bake a sweet treat together with either candy or chocolate inside!
Take time to visit your local fruit farms, pumpkin patches, farmers markets and produce sections at the grocery store! If you live in an area with a forest or nature trails- take a nature walk to see leaves and bugs up close! This is such a wonderful time to get outside and learn with your children!
