What I Got My Kids For Christmas 2020 + Our New Family Traditions

Updated: Jan 4, 2021

Hi Friends! Today I’m sharing what I got for Christmas for my two kiddos- Isaiah (3) and Ezekiel (16 months old). I have plenty of other gift ideas here on the blog as well if you are looking for additional toy ideas to finish up holiday shopping. Both of Isaiah and Ezekiel’s birthday gift hauls are posted as well as my 2020 gift guide! Can you believe there is only four more days until Christmas?! I sure can’t! There is so much to be grateful for this year and I’m glad to be able to bless our kids and be examples of generous giving. Let me know below what is one thing you got your kids for Christmas that you’re so excited for them to open up!

This year is so exciting because we’re starting some new family traditions! This is our first Christmas in our new home that we moved into this past summer and the very first time in a long time that the four of us get to celebrate under our own roof! We have started the three gift rule now for Christmas where each of the boys get three gifts each from my husband and I. For us personally I didn’t want to materialize the holiday and have gifts overshadow the true meaning of Christmas and why we celebrate. I chose three gifts because I felt like it was symbolic to the three gifts Jesus received from the wise men after his birth. Again, trying to bring it back to the reason for the season! We’ll be making chocolate chip pancakes and reading from the book of Luke before we live stream church service. The boys will open gifts sometime between breakfast and service so they’ll have something to do while Shawn and I are listening in. My heart is so full during this time of year and having kids to experience Christmas with just makes it so much more magical! That evening we’re going to load everyone up and drive around our neighborhood to see lights. I hope we’ll be able to do this every year. Ok, now for the gifts!

As mentioned previously, the boys are receiving three gifts each from my husband and I. They also have a few more items they’re getting like books from my grandmom and my husbands sister, Isaiah got blocks (Linked) from my brother and sister in law and new shoes from my mom, their Mimi! Pictured above are the items I picked up for them. Each of them are getting a electronic Leap Frog Book; so excited about this because it has songs and phrases and it can teach them new words and animals. I got this gift idea from one of my nanny kiddos, he has one and loves it- I know the boys will too! Isaiah will be receiving the Hape Twist And Turnables Learning Blocks (Linked). They are pricey but I wanted to invest in a good fine motor toy he can use through the year. If you read his most recent update on how ABA therapy is going for him he’s starting on handwriting and could use as many toys to help build up hand strength that he can. Ezekiel loves keys and when I saw this B Toys Key Set (Linked) I just had to get it for him! They have lots of buttons for him to push and it lights up too! For their big gifts, Ezekiel was gifted with a gently used and practically new Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Puppy Walker (Linked). He knows how to walk but is obsessed with pushing items around the house. This toy also has fun activities to do on the front that I can totally see him sitting down and tinkering with. Isaiah is getting his first scooter this year which I can’t even believe he’s even big enough to ride on. I was battling between getting a balance bike or scooter for him and a scooter was the better option for us since we are in an apartment with not much storage space. I went went with the Radio Flyer “My First Scooter” (Linked) because it has three wheels and a large base for him to place his feet.

My nanny clients have been so incredibly generous and have gifted Isaiah and Ezekiel with toys for Christmas as well. Isaiah got a monster truck (Linked) and A Toy Story Woody (Linked) he’s going to flip when he sees it! Ezekiel was gifted a Little Tikes Ball Set (Linked), A Leap Frog Tablet (Linked) and a Fisher Price Toy Controller (Linked).

And that’s it! We are not doing stockings, but if you’d like some suggestions on stocking stuffers send me a message and we can collaborate on a few small toys and activity sets I recommend! Looking forward celebrating this year and spending time with the ones I love most, I hope you do too!
